I liked Meghan's little contest regarding their recent gift subscription of Garden & Gun, so I thought I'd hold one of my own. By the way, I read two complete issues of G&G while in Charlotte, and it is, in fact, a very good magazine. This magazine isn't quite so clever with the title, but it's a good magazine nonetheless. I recently re-subscribed (my friends don't randomly send me magazine subscriptions like the Holbrooks do, but then again, the Holbrooks' friend who sent them that one is certainly a unique person, so I'm guessing that relatively few people out there get such unique gifts!) to this magazine after letting it lapse for a few years, and my newest issue has made me thankful I decided to give myself 12 months of reading fun.
Here's some hints:
-It has recipes (let's be honest - I'm not really going to use them), reviews of restaurants and events for a very big geographic area, great photographic essays, and in-depth articles on current events from their own perspective.
-I was DELIGHTED to see this month's cover.
-There's a great piece this month from the perspective of a soldier who served in Iraq.
-I immediately ran out and bought a book about books after reading its review in the magazine. Literally put the magazine down and went to Borders.
-Fashion is a little sparse, but I'm dying to know who makes a certain pair of shoes I saw in a photograph accompanying one of the stories.
-One of the most entertaining articles I read this month was about the anniversary of a film closely tied to the magazine's demographic. This film was passed down in my sorority in the annual senior wills, though I suspect relatively few will admit they've ever seen the film.
Any guesses? I feel like this is an easy one for people who know me.
The prize is pretty good on this one!

Contest! Win cool stuff!
Another contest, folks.
Help me come up with a cool domain name for my blog.
I own the following:
www.mollyharrington.com (artwork site)
www.bitchyinthecity.com (Celeste's and I's venture into gossip that the world hasn't ever seen)
and of course my old landlord's namesake for shits and giggles.
Since none of those will work, I need something with the following criteria:
-Available for $9.99 or less.
-dot com domain name
-short and sweet. less than 10 letters before the .com
-made-up words are acceptable, but it's a know-it-when-I-see-it thing.
-easy to remember
-looks good in a logo
-is free from really offensive connotations, but can still push the envelope
-is indicative of my blog's content.
Email (do not post - crazy scammers patrol these things and look for names to buy that people talk about) your suggestions to me.
I have no idea what you win. I'll think of it when I drive home, but it'll be cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Win something cool from me!
I'm feeling generous, and I've got a massive case of spring cleaning.
I'm holding a contest. You can win...well, I can't tell you right now. It would give away the answer. I will tell you that the prize comes from...that fantabulous store, Anthropologie!
I bought it for some stupid reason and realized it's not my taste...everyone else loves it, just not my crazy style.
Your clues:
I went to buy something this morning.
1. I haven't bought it in eight years.
2. Chances are, you haven't either.
3. You've most likely never stopped partaking in the activities surrounding what results from what I bought, in fact, you've probably done them MORE.
4. When I bought it, I was shocked that the clerk couldn't give me advice on it - despite having extensive training in the field.
5. What I needed was in a tiny corner of the store - yet it would have been taken up over half the store's shelf space just fifteen years ago.
6. It has not gone up or down in price since the last time I bought it.
WHAT DID I BUY?
Rules:
-First correct answer via email or comment (I'll check the time stamp) wins. I will ship the prize to you via USPS to any US or APO address.
-You must be an email subscriber of my feed (box to the left) to win so that I know you're a human and not some super contest-entering robot...no, I will never ever ever give your information to anyone. The feed just tells you when I've put a new entry up, it doesn't send you crap, subscribe through any RSS feeder you wish.
-My roommate is excluded in case she's seen my stuff out in the living room and would therefore have an unfair advantage.
-When someone wins I'll update with a response.
